Posted by

ACRA team is happy to share that ACRA’s new working paper on “Industrial Corridors in India: A Comprehensive Review” is to be published on 9th July. Industrial corridors can play a key role in driving manufacturing sector growth in the country. Apart from the large manufacturing industries, industrial corridors in India would lead to the growth of manufacturing MSMEs significantly, who are the backbone of the economy.

Inter-industry backward and forward linkages, available infrastructures & services and availability to skilled and unskilled workers would facilitate MSMEs to achieve economy of scale with reduced production cost. A competitive environment within each corridor would lead to innovations in terms of new as well as better quality product in multiple sectors. A possible cluster development with successful cooperative governance can lead to growth with common facility centres required for multiple production process. Above all, successful industrial corridors will help in gainful employment generation across the states, which is mostly lacking at present

After launching this working paper, we do have a plan to publish a series of Working/Discussion papers on industrial corridors at the State level. We will start with Uttar Pradesh. In recent years, multiple expressways were built in Uttar Pradesh. The state Government has also stated it’s positive intention in developing industrial corridors along these expressways. This should lead to an industrial movement in Uttar Pradesh, if it is led with right policy making and required support.

These working papers/discussion papers will review the existing industrial scenarios, investment intentions, stated government support mechanism to explore success quotient of each of the envisaged industrial corridors in Uttar Pradesh. This research papers will also delve into the scenarios that these corridors may achieve in the next decade or so. Forecasts will be made for all key industrial parameters including sector-wise output, employment, export possibilities and the similar ones. We look forward to share this paper to our audience soon.
